Sponsored by CFPA chapter-affiliates in the region this coming weekend, Friday, March 5- Saturday, March 6; as well as plans sponsored or co- sponsored by CFPA for observing the seventh anniversary of the Iraq War On Friday, March 19 (the actual anniversary) and Saturday, March 20. Please mark your calendars, and plan to participate! CFPA Chapter-Affiliate Events on March 5-6 CFPA’s South Jersey affiliate, the Coalition for Peace and Justice (CPJ), is co-sponsoring a Peace Vigil in Woodstown, NJ from 5:30-6:30 PM on Friday, March 5. Click here for details. CPJ is also co-sponsoring a screening and discussion of Robert Greenwald’s excellent film, Rethink Afghanistan, from 7:00-9:00 PM in Galloway, NJ. Click here for details. Finally, CFPA’s Bucks and Eastern Montgomery Chapters are sponsoring a Forum on From H-Bombs to Handguns: Creating a Safer World at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 6 in Perkasie, PA. Click here for details. Regional Events for Seventh Anniversary of Iraq War on March 19-20 CFPA is sponsoring a Regional Rally on the State House Steps in Trenton from 12:00-1:00 PM on Friday, March 19, the actual anniversary of the Iraq War. We have some outstanding and highly qualified speakers, as well as a superb musician lined up to present. Speakers will incude Raed Jarrar, a native Iraqi who emigrated to the US in 2005 and has been working to end the occupation since; and Jesse Hamilton, and Iraq War veteran. We also have Shaleen Leahy, a terrific folk singer, who will provide music. And, of course, I’ll emcee and make some remarks. Click here for details. Carpooling from the Princeton Shopping Center (Rite Aid end) will leave at 11:15 AM; please reply to this email if you plan to join and put "March 19 Carpool" in subject line, and please indicate if you can offer to drive. There are 25-30 press outlets from throughout the region at the State House, but they are only present on weekdays. We are beginning to see pressure to delay or cancel the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, which we must vigorously oppose. So I urge you to make every effort to come and help us project our message via the mass media on this important occasion! Also, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 20, CFPA is co- sponsoring a demonstration at the Army Experience Center (AEC) in Northeast Philadelphia on the theme: Jobs Not War. The AEC is a manifestation of the same militarism that led to the Iraq War right in our midst, so we felt it an appropriate place to be present. Two veterans, Jesse Hamilton and John Grant, are scheduled to be among the speakers, as well as myself. Click here for details. Carpooling will leave from Princeton Shopping Center (Rite Aid end) at 10:30 AM; please reply to this email and put "March 20 Carpool" in subject lineif you plan to join that, and please indicate if you can offer to drive. Legislation for Bringing US Troops Home from Afghanistan Below my name is an Alert we recently received from National Peace Action about legislation being introduced by Rep. Dennis Kucinich to use the war powers act to bring US troops home from Afghanistan. While the timeline may seem precipitous to some, it is a way to bring pressure on the Adminstation to plan more seriously for a timetable for withdrawing US troops. I thought you should know about it, and that at least some of you would want to support it. The Rev.
